What platform to be on

Stop fishing at noon

I was born and raised in the Coastal Region of Kenya. It fascinated me that I’d see men leave their homes in the evening heading to the sea. Why did they fish at night? One day I asked around and I got the answer – there are more fish to be caught at night.

During the day, the water is warm. Fish, being cold-blooded, do not like warm water. During the day, they dive deeper to get cool water. At night, the water on the surface cools down and the fish come up.

During the night, there are also fewer water noises that scare the fish. There are no noises from electric motors, boats, or jet skis. All you have, if you are lucky, is the moon shining down on you, as you listen to the rhythmic gentle slap of the waves against your boat.

And in this calm, you cast your net and catch fish. Good fish. A lot of fish. This was the wisdom of fishing at night.

Generally speaking, at the time of writing this (Dec 2021), Tiktok is the cheapest platform to use in reaching people and getting their attention. Previously it was Instagram and before that, it was Facebook.
