The Work of a Founder

Founders build Foundations

In over half the branding projects we have worked on, we have interacted with the founders. This has led to some pretty interesting discussions on how to build their brands. They want to build a brand - something reliable in their clients’ eyes, and durable, to outlive them. They have several brand touchpoints: Social Media, Websites, WhatsApp, in-person interactions, Documentation, Stationery, and much more.

They can’t effectively manage all the touchpoints. In the long run, they get swamped and disappoint a few clients.

If you are a founder and this describes you, well, here’s the truth. You are either afraid or selfish.

Afraid to let go. Afraid to let others come in and ruin the good thing you have built so far. Afraid to trust.

Or too selfish with your revenue. Too selfish to let others impact society through your brand.

As Brian, my Business Consultant, once told me, “The work of a founder is to build the foundations.” Let others run the business and build the brand. Work on ensuring you reward them for that. Be found reinforcing the foundations.

If you are reading this and you are not a founder, let the founder work on the foundations. Build on top of those foundations. Stop expecting them to do your work. Cut them some slack. Be exemplary and trustworthy.

We simplify brand building for those starting, growing, or changing direction.
